Man Accused of Huffing Air Duster Leads East Windsor PD On Chase

The man was finally taken into custody in Enfield.

An Enfield man is facing charges after allegedly engaging police in a pursuit on Friday that started in East Windsor and ended with a rollover crash in Enfield.

Police received two complaints of a vehicle being driven erratically on North Road in East Windsor. Witnesses stated the vehicle hit a sign on North Road near Shoham Road and continued driving.

Officers spotted the vehicle near Mullen Road and attempted to stop the vehicle but the vehicle did not stop, police said. The vehicle almost hit a telephone pole and then drove into a field off of North Road, police said.

Police terminated the pursuit once the vehicle was out of the field and it continued west on North Road, eventually turning onto the exit 45 North on-ramp. State Police and the Enfield Police Department were notified at this point.

According to police, approximately ten minutes later and without any police cruisers pursuing, the vehicle was involved in a roll over accident in Enfield.

At this point, Ryan Runyon, 26, was taken into custody.

Police determined that Runyon was allegedly huffing air duster which caused his erratic driving and behavior.

Runyon was charged with driving under the influence, engaging in pursuit, reckless driving, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and failure to drive in the proper lane. He was given a court date of Aug. 3.
