UPDATE: Fire In Cockpit Forces Emergency Landing At Bradley Airport

Excellent work by the crew helped ensure no one was injured, the air carrier said.

UPDATE 4 p.m.

Passengers and crew aboard a United Express plane headed from Newark to Bradley International Airport Friday afternoon had a major scare as a small fire forced the plan to make an emergency landing, the Hartford Courant reports.

Connecticut State Police that there was a small fire in the cockpit but despite that the pilot was able to land the plane safety, and no one was injured, WFSB 3 TV reports.

The incident occurred at 12:15 p.m. Everyone onboard was able to evacuate safely and the airport based in Windsor Locks never shut down.

“We are very thankful for the quick response of our flight crew to ensure the safety of our passengers - the aircraft has been removed from service and will undergo a thorough maintenance evaluation,” United Express said in a statement on Friday, via WFSB 3 TV.
