Bill Davenport, chair of the Agri-Science Department at , said the trip was fully funded by an outside source.

"It didn't cost a dime for Region 14," he said. "An anonymous donor gave a $20,000 check to fund the entire trip."

Davenport said that three years ago, he was able to go to Scotland and tour Europe with another talented team. Arethusa Farm funded the trip that year.

Watko, now a sophomore at UConn studying animal science with a pre-vet focus, said she found it most interesting how multi-lingual people were in Europe. She said the trip was an incredible experience and expressed gratitude for the donor who funded the trip.

"I wouldn't have been able to go otherwise," she said.
