The role of sheep in American history will be discussed on April 28 at 12 noon at Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust, 5 Church Hill Road, as part of the “History Bites 2011” lecture series, sponsored by the Connecticut Community Foundation. The annual lecture series offers glimpses of history and culture from the Greater Litchfield Hills area.
Flanders’ Education Coordinator, Dianne Parmelee will review topics highlighting the importance of sheep to Colonial America, including the restrictions on sheep raising and wool manufacturing that led to the American Revolution and will share stories of sheep in New England and at Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust. Spinning, weaving and fiber art techniques will be demonstrated.
