Flanders Offering Classes on Primitive Painting

Learn from a well known folk art painter on April 2 and April 16 at Flanders Nature Center in Woodbury.

Led by Rhoda Jennings a well-known area folk art painter, Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust is hosting a two session workshop on Primitive Painting in the styles of Early American Folk Art. The classes are being held on the Saturdays of April 2 and 16 from 9AM to Noon.

At these two workshops participants will recycle old or new furniture, boxes, or panels to paint their own version of a country, nautical, patriotic or animal scene. They will learn to prepare, decorate and preserve their pieces. Examples, demonstrations and hands on work with the teacher’s guidance will help the student develop his or her own style to create two or more finished works.

The classes will be held at the Flanders Studio on the corner of Flanders and Church Hill Road in Woodbury. The cost for the two sessions is $45 for members and $65 for non-members. A class supply kit is available from the teacher at the first class for $25 in cash or check.
