'Good Feeling' Leads To Big CT Lottery Scratch Off Win

The winning ticket was sold in Waterbury.

WATERBURY, CT — After Waterbury resident Courtney Freeman woke up refreshed and energized one morning recently, she decided to try her luck with some CT Lottery scratch off games.

Good thing she did, because one of the tickets was worth $50,000.

“I had a feeling something good would happen!”, she told lottery officials when she picked up her winnings.

Freeman had bought three “Jacks or Better” instant tickets from AJ Services, located at 358 Walnut St. in Waterbury.

“I scanned the first ticket—nothing, scanned the second and said, ‘$50,000!? Are you serious?’” Freeman was so excited that she drove straight to the CT Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill.

Wanting to surprise her wife in a special way, Freeman is taking her winner’s check and putting it behind her windshield in her car. She plans to pick her wife up from work and let her discover the great news. “She’ll probably pass out,” Freeman laughed.

The lottery win comes at a special time for the couple as they just celebrated their 4 year anniversary. In need of a new car and apartment as well, Freeman smiled and said, “The timing's just right.”

For selling the winning ticket, AJ Services will receive a $500 bonus check from the CT Lottery.

The overall chances of winning a Jacks or Better prize are 1 in 4.15.
