Halloween Can't Be Beat: Trunk or Treat Was A Halloween Feat

Faced with the aftermath of a rare October snow, New Englanders know how to survive week-long power outages, cook on top of wood stoves and organize Halloween events in four hours time.

Because of downed trees and power lines, Middlebury and Woodbury town officials urged residents not to go trick-or-treating on Halloween this year. Middlebury's events were postponed until a later date.

In Woodbury, boys and ghouls banded together and created the town Park and Rec Department sponsored event, Trunk or Treat, at Mitchell Elementary School, 14 School St., in four hours flat.

The event featured costumed characters handing out candy from decorated car trunks, as children dressed as fairies, M&Ms, cats and witches went trick-or-treating trunk-to-trunk.

Turns out that all that snow that fell on the ground cannot put a damper on the Halloween spirit.
