“The Hofstätter wines express a sense of place,” the estate’s website explains. “They taste of the vineyards in which the grapes were grown and reflect their soils and climatic conditions. The Gewürztraminer from Kolbenhof and the Pinot Noir Vigna S. Urbano from Barthenau are among the first single vineyard wines to be produced in Alto Adige.”

The food-and-wine pairings for the dinner are: Weissbergunder (Pinot Bianco) with “tantalizing” passed hors d’oeuvres; Pinot Grigio with Fresh Maryland lump crabmeat & pasta, fiddlehead ferns, shallots & lemon confit; Gewurtztraminer vigna Kolbenhof with banana leaf wrapped sea bass oysters & ginger, papaya banana celery & grape salsa; Pinot Nero (Pinot Noir) with Braised pork cheeks, fresh pea purée endive & sorrel pesto; and Lagrein with Stone Silo & Cricket Creek Farms cheese selection.
