Local Dunkin Donuts Celebrating National Donut Day
Stop in to your local Dunkin Donuts and get a free donut with beverage purchase.
National Donut Day has been a hit locally as customers have streamed to their nearby Dunkin Donuts to cash in on the annual holiday.
National Donut Day is celebrated on the first Friday of June each year, and this year Dunkin Donuts stores across the country are giving away a free donut with a beverage purchase to celebrate. It may not be as well known as most holidays, but it’s got the attention of enough area residents to cause some commotion.
“The free donuts are getting people out and into the store for sure,” said Elnor Tavares, employee of Dunkin Donuts at 750 Straits Turnpike in Middlebury.
Lines may be longer than usual, but employees say the free donut has been a fair trade off so far.
“There’s been a lot of people coming through all day,” said Cindy Marin, manager of Dunkin Donuts at 77 Main Street South in Southbury. “Some lines have been very long, but everyone has left satisfied.”
Customers say the offer enticed them to make it out to Dunkin Donuts, and are happy the holiday is here.
“I come to Dunkin almost every day to begin with, but there was definitely a little extra incentive to get there today knowing a free donut would be thrown in,” said Southbury resident and frequent Dunkin Donuts consumer Nolan Riley.
The free donut offer is only valid throughout the day Friday. Customers must purchase a beverage to receive a free donut.
