Man Charged in Labor Day Chase Involving Woodbury Police

The man who tried to evade police was charged on Thursday.

State Police have charged a man who led police on a 13-mile chase the morning of Labor Day, NBC Connecticut reports.

The Sept. 1 incident started when police went to Tyler Santoro’s Southbury home to investigate a domestic violence complaint to find that Santoro had fled in a stolen SUV. A State Trooper in Woodbury identified the SUV and chased the vehicle along with along with Woodbury police for 13 miles to Washington, the news channel reports. The chase left all three parties injured.

Santoro, 31, tried to cut his own neck when the chase ended at which point police used a Taser to stop Santoro from injuring himself and took him into custody, according to the Hartford Courant. Santoro suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

According to the newspaper, Santoro was served with a warrant on Thursday charging him with brandishing a facsimile firearm, engaging an officer in a pursuit, interfering with an officer, first-degree criminal mischief, third-degree larceny, weapons in a motor vehicle, reckless endangerment, among other charges.

Santoro is being held on a $350,000 cash bond.
