Musical March Events at EverWonder Children's Museum
EverWonder Children's Museum is pleased to announce its calendar of events for March 2017.
EverWonder Children’s Museum is pleased to announce its calendar for March 2017. The museum has events for the entire family. The event calendar is subject to change without notice. Please check EverWonderMuseum.org or Facebook for calendar changes and announcements.
EverWonder is open Tuesday- Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Admission is $7.00 per person, and children under the age of 1 year old are free. Museum members are free. Parking at the museum is also free.
Story Lab for Young Explorers meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 am to 11:00 am. This 30 minute program of STEM themed stories, activities, and crafts takes place in the EverWonder classroom. Parents must stay with their children during the program. Program is free with museum admission.
Registration for EverWonder Summer STEM Programs is now open. Our summer programs are geared for children ages 5 to 11. Programming will be divided into two age categories, Young Innovators: ages 5-7 and Junior Innovators: ages 8-11. This year, our summer programs will run for eight weeks, starting on Wednesday, July 5th. Each week will focus on a different STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) theme. Each week will focus on a different subject with hands-on experiments and activities. Your child will also have the opportunity to explore and learn in our museum daily. Science Lab: Spoon Maracas
Shake shake shake... shake shake shake... shake your very own maraca! On Wednesday, March 1st, children will make their own maracas out of plastic eggs, spoons, rice and masking tape.

Science Lab: Sound Sandwiches
Make beautiful music with sticks, straws, and rubber bands on Wednesday, March 8th. On Wednesday, March 8th, children will make Sound Sandwiches and experiment with sound through making major and minor adjustments to their newly created noisemaker. In this activity, children will learn about pitch, volume, vibrations and tension.

Pi Day
How many digits of Pi do you know? On Tuesday, March 14th, EverWonder will celebrate mathematics’ favorite constant, the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter, Pi.

Science Lab: Water Xylophone Experiment
Let’s create music together! On Wednesday, March 15th, children will help create a beautiful symphony of color and sound through conducting the Water Xylophone experiment. Children will pour different amounts of water and food dye into eight different bottles to create a pitch perfect xylophone.

Science Lab: Paper Plate Guitars
I’m off to EverWonder with a guitar on my knee! On Wednesday, March 22nd, children will create their own guitars and banjos out of paper plates, rubber bands and a paint stick. Children will learn about sound and vibrations during this well-tuned activity.

Science Lab: Pin Strummer Activity
Ever wonder what to do with bent bobby pins? On Wednesday, March 29th, we are repurposing bobby pins and jugs to create unique musical instruments. Children will experiment with pin location and shape to create different frequencies and sounds.

Formed in January 2011 by a group of parents, EverWonder Children’s Museum (incorporated as Newtown Children’s Museum, Inc.) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring children and families in Northern Fairfield County through the use of hands-on museum exhibits and demonstrations. Museums hours are Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 am -5:00 pm and Sunday 11:00 am – 5:00 pm. The museum is located at 31 Pecks Lane Newtown, CT 06470.
