[UPDATED] Pedestrian Struck by Train in Naugatuck

The extent of the pedestrian's injuries are unknown at this time.

Metro North spokesman Aaron Donovan has confirmed the pedestrian who was struck by a train is dead. Donovan said the victim is a 39-year-old white male. They have not yet released his identity.

Donovan said there is no train service Tuesday evening and all trains through 12:10 a.m. have been replaced with buses. The Metro North spokesman also stated commuter service Wednesday morning “most likely will not be impacted.”

Lt. Bryan Cammarata Administrative Lieutenant of the Naugatuck Police Department informed Patch that on Tuesday, Aug. 26 at approximately 6:57 p.m., a pedestrian was struck by a train.

Naugatuck Police said the pedestrian was struck by a train on the train tracks located near the overpass south of Maple Street. Emergency units are on the scene and MTA Police are investigating the incident.

The extent of the pedestrian’s injuries are unknown at this time.
