The Pomperaug girl’s basketball team attempted to take another step toward a state championship as they hosted a state quarterfinal match on Thursday, March 8.
The Panthers competed against #7 RHAM (16-5) at Pomperaug with a birth in the state semifinals up for grabs.

The winner of the matchup will play the winner of a Thursday night game between #3 Bacon Academy (19-2) and #22 Brookfield (11-11).
PHS is the #2 seed in the 25-team Class ‘L’ field. The top seed, #1 E.O. Smith (21-0), has also advanced to the quarters.
