The following is from the Region 14 website:
"Region 14 Parent and Guardians, Region 14 schools has changed the first day of school for students to September 6, 2011. This change is due to many effects from Hurricane Irene. First, the town of Woodbury continues to have a Code Red because of the lack of power and street closings. Second, we want to ensure a safe environment for students and staff entering the buildings as they become open once they restore power. Also, food services has lost much of its food because of lack of refrigeration due to the loss of power as well. We are in the process of getting supplies for a Tuesday, September 6th opening. Changing the opening date of school will also allow medical and transportation issues to continue to be resolved because of any lingering issues from the hurricane as well. Finally, this will allow all of our Region 14 families to get back to our regular routines and get ready for students to come back to school ready to learn. Thank you for your continuing patience and we look forward to seeing all students on Tuesday, September 6 in all of our schools."
