Region 15 Schools Delay Thursday, Jan. 8, Opening

Because of the frigid temperatures and dangerous wind chills predicted for Thursday, Jan. 8, all Region 15 schools will be on a 90-minute delayed opening.

Local Weather

The weather outside is so frightful that the National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook and a wind chill advisory beginning at 7 p.m. tonight and running through 8 a.m. Thursday.

• Tonight, Jan, 7: Mostly clear, with a low around -4. Wind chill values between -10 and -20. Blustery, with a northwest wind 13 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

• Thursday, Jan. 8: Mostly sunny and cold, with a high near 18. Wind chill values between -10 and -20. Northwest wind 8 to 11 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.

• Thursday Night: A chance of snow showers, mainly after 3 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 12. Wind chill values between zero and 5. Southwest wind 7 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
