Regional School District 14 Appoints Fairfield Educator as Next Superintendent of Schools
The Regional School District, which includes Woodbury, hired Dr. Anna Cutaia-Leonard as its next schools superintendent.

The Regional School District 14 Board of Education has appointed Anna Cutaia-Leonard, Ed.D. as the new Superintendent of Schools for the district. Dr. Cutaia-Leonard comes to the district after having served as the Director of Elementary Education for Fairfield Public Schools, according to a press release by the school district.

Dr. Cutaia-Leonard was selected from a pool of nine candidates, four of whom were interviewed. Throughout the process, the Board of Education relied heavily on the feedback gathered in the Regional School District 14 Community Profile Assessment Report and developed through focus group input and online survey research performed in the spring.

“Her accomplishments are exemplary and her collaborative leadership skills will be great for our district,” stated George Bauer, Chair of the Regional School District 14 Board of Education. “She is extremely energetic and has a deep, genuine passion for the well-being of students and achievement.”
Cutaia-Leonard received her Doctorate of Education in 2013 and completed the Executive Leadership Program in 2007 at the University of Connecticut. She received her Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1997 and completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1991 at Mount Saint Mary College.

Dr. Cutaia-Leonard began her career as a Teacher and Instructional Coach in the Horry County School system in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where she taught from 1991-1998. She then became the Assistant Principal at the Myrtle Beach Intermediate School where she remained until 2000. From 2000-2003, she served as Principal of the Homewood Elementary School in Horry County, South Carolina. She then became the Principal of the Casimir Pulaski Elementary School in Meriden, CT, where she served until 2005. She worked as an Education Consultant from 2005 – 2008 for the Connecticut State Department of Education. In addition to being the Director of Elementary Education for Fairfield Public Schools, she also is an Adjunct Professor at Southern Connecticut State University.
Cutaia-Leonard is a member of the Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents, the Tri-State Consortium, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and is a Phi Delta Kappan.
“I am humbled by the overwhelming show of support expressed by Board of Education members and Region 14 staff,” stated Dr. Anna Cutaia-Leonard upon learning she had been selected for the Regional School District 14 superintendent position. “I look forward to working in partnership with the Woodbury and Bethlehem communities for the betterment of all students.”
Dr. Cutaia-Leonard will serve as Regional School District 14’s superintendent beginning October 23, 2014. C.E.S Executive Search Services coordinated the Board of Education’s search for Region 14’s new school superintendent.
