Taco and Tamale Truck Conforms with Town Plan
The Planning Commission lent its support to applicant Christopher Leonard on his proposal to operate a taco and tamale truck in town.

The Woodbury Planning Commission unanimously felt that Christopher Leonard's proposed special permit application to operate a taco and tamale truck at 689 Main St. South conforms with the town's Plan of Conservation and Development.
The application is presently before the Zoning Commission.
The Zoning Commission, at its September 13 meeting, accepted Leonard's application for review and scheduled a public hearing for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, in the Shove Conference Room, 281 Main St. South.

The Zoning Commission sent the application to the Planning Commission, for review of conformance with the POCD. [See the PDF of the POCD attached to this article.]
Proposed hours of operation are 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the following days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, according to Leonard.

He said he does not intend to operate on Thursday, as that is the day when Elliot's Seafood Truck is parked in the parking lot.
Planning Commission member Eileen Denver asked if the seafood truck's owner had to participate in the same process Leonard is participating in.
The seafood truck was brought up under enforcement at the September 13 Zoning Commission meeting, as it was determined the truck does not have zoning approval to operate.
The seafood truck owner intends to apply for a special permit, according to the minutes.
Leonard said he has written permission from the landlord to operate the taco and tamale truck for seven days a week, but said he is only applying to operate for five days of his choosing.
"I will only be operating five days," he said. "That way, if Monday doesn't work, I'll switch to Sunday."
Planning Commission Chairman Andy Peklo III said the POCD advocates for diversifying the economic environment in town and a taco and tamale truck is a different food service format.
Commissioner Bob Travers said that while there a lot of questions pertaining to the application -- intensity of use, traffic and parking -- those are questions for the Zoning Commission.
