Team Beta Presents at John J. McCarthy Observatory
Nonnewaug High School's FIRST Robotics team will be making a presentation about NASA Space Spin-offs at the John J. McCarthy Observatory

On Saturday, December 13, 2014, Nonnewaug High School’s FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team will be making at a presentation at the John J. McCarthy Observatory in New Milford, CT at their Monthly Second Saturday Stars event. The theme of the presentation will be NASA Space Spin-offs. These are ideas that were implemented in NASA’s technology, but were later converted into other common items. Some of these spin-offs include microwaves, sunglasses, and water purification. The observatory is located in the parking lot of New Milford High School. The event runs from 7:00PM to 9:00PM and is free. There will also be refreshments available.
Team Beta is excited to make the presentation and is looking forward to spreading science and technology to the viewers. Being an FRC team, it is part of their mission to do so. FRC is a global organization that gets high school students interested in science and technology. Each year, they assign a task to the teams, and they have just six weeks to design, prototype and build a robot that they will compete with during the competition season.
Along with doing FRC, Team Beta participates in many outreach events like the presentation at the John J. McCarty Observatory. They encourage everyone to come to the event and are looking forward to seeing you! If you have any questions, comments or concerns about the presentation, please feel free to contact team at contact@teambeta.org, or the observatory at mccarthy.observatory@gmail.com.
