Two Motorcycle Drivers Injured in Accident in Middlebury

The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m on Sunday afternoon.

Two motorcyclists were injured Sunday afternoon on Interstate 84 in Middlebury, the Republican-American reports.

According to the paper, the two motorcyclists were driving eastbound about two miles east of Exit 16 when they swerved to the left to avoid crashing into heavy traffic ahead and ran into the center median of the highway.

The drivers were Eder Saldana of Windsor and Patrick McMahon of Meriden. Both drivers suffered head and back injuries and were taken to Waterbury Hospital for non-life threatening injuries, the paper reports.

Both motorcycles were towed from the accident scene where traffic was held up for more than an hour.

Police gave Saldana a ticket for operating a motorcycle without a motorcycle license endorsement and McMahon was given a ticket for operating an unregistered motor vehicle, the paper reports. Both men were given tickets for failure to maintain their lanes.
