Westover Alumni Join Board of Governors
From Westover School to all around the world and back again: These alumni are thrilled to give back to the school they love.
Three alumnae, Pia Guido Murphy, a member of
Westover School’s Class of 1991; Leigh Vaule Steele, a member of the Class
of 1987; and Catherine Stewart, a member of the Class of 1976; recently joined the school’s Alumnae Association Board of Governors.
"I hope that serving on the Board of Governors will be part of a long line of service to the school that gave me so much," said Murphy.

class agent and as a reunion chair.
Murphy holds a B.A. in art history, with a minor in French, from
Hobart and William Smith Colleges and a baccalaureate degree in Modern and
Contemporary Art from Christie’s New York.
In the fall of 1994, she studied at the American University in Paris. While in college, she worked as a museum tour guide and coordinated charity fundraising events and exhibition receptions. She has worked as an administrator in Sotheby’s English Furniture Department.

Murphy served on the Board of the Nantucket Land Council and is going back to school to pursue a certificate in Interior Design. She is a representative of jewelry company Stella & Dot.
Murphy resides in Locust Valley, N.Y. She is the parent of three
children.
Vaule Steele said she is looking forward to working with Westover and the other governors to help support the school and its students.
"I am honored to have an active role in the Westover community again after so many years, and for the opportunity to give back to the school that I once took
for granted," she said.
A resident of Portland, Maine, Steele works for the Young Presidents’ Organization and the Sager Family Foundation, often on joint projects. She serves as the Network Administrator for Young Presidents’ Organization, which offers young chief executives from around the world unique educational opportunities and a network to share ideas and experiences.
She also is a project manager for the Sager Family Foundation, which provides support for global initiatives encouraging social enterprise and conflict resolution programs, as well as educational exchanges and community-building opportunities.
Earlier, Steele was an educational assistant and caretaker for Mission: Wolf in Colorado, which provided a sanctuary for wolves while offering educational programs for the general public about the endangered species.
Later, Steele lived in Zimbabwe, South Africa, Mozambique and other
African nations while working in the safari and travel business.
Steele holds a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Maine and took additional studies in Spanish and Art in Mexico. In her free time, she
enjoys tennis and jogging.
Stewart said she looks forward to giving back to Westover School.
"It thrills me that part of a governor’s job is to get to know the current students," said Stewart. "Nothing would be more rewarding."
Now retired, Stewart was most recently the owner of a graphics design
firm and the office manager for a realty firm. She holds a B.S. in mass
communications, specializing in television production, with a minor in
theater education. She holds imagery and webmaster certificates from
United Digital Artists.
A long-time community volunteer, Stewart is a volunteer
administrator for the Meadow Ridge Homeowners Association and a member of
the Manchester, Vt. Conservation Commission. She is also a founding member
of the Southern Vermont Astronomy Group, Inc.
Stewart returned to her love of visual arts and is now a new producer at GNAT-TV, bringing a news magazine-styled show called GNN -- Greater Northshire News -- to her community.
