A Foggy Start to Columbus Day

Both towns will experience patchy fog before 9 a.m. and temperatures with a high near 79 degrees. The night will be cool, nearing the mid to low 50s.

What Day is Today Again?

It is Columbus Day, that's true. But it's also National Angel Food Cake Day. In honor of this tasty day, here's a recipe for grilled angel food cake with balsamic-soaked strawberries.

Municipal Meetings

There are no municipal meetings in Middebury and Woodbury, as town offices are closed for Columbus Day. 

Flanders Fun and Literary Loves

A will take place at Flanders Nature Center today, beginning at 7 a.m., featuring a hayride and pumpkin decorating, among other activities.

A will take place at the Middlebury Public Library at 4 p.m. today, for students in first grade and higher.

Halloween Frights and Bites

Halloween is 21 days away and the Society will share its experiences at the Middlebury Public Library on Tuesday, Oct. 18, in the Larkin Room.

Nonnewaug High School is hosting Trick or Treat Street again this year, at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at 5 Minortown Rd., Woodbury.

High school clubs decorate classrooms and students hand out candy to costumed children who come to visit.
