Wilmington Airport is upgrading its food and beverage options (delawareonline.com) — Travelers using Wilmington Airport will soon see a new Sky+Go grab-and-go concession, expanded seating, renovated restrooms, and an added baggage carousel as part of a major terminal upgrade. Parking prices will rise slightly on November 1, and Avelo flights from Wilmington are now scheduled through April 2027, giving residents more destination and travel planning options.
2. Wilmington Traffic Stop Leads to Gun, Drug Charges (mychesco.com) — Wilmington police say a Tuesday afternoon traffic stop near East 24th and Carter streets led to the arrest of a 28-year-old man and the seizure of a loaded revolver and multiple drugs. The driver was charged with firearm, drug, and paraphernalia offenses, arraigned, and held at Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on cash-only bail, with all charges still to be proven in court.
3. 18-year-old killed after triple shooting in Wilmington, Delaware identified (6abc.com) — An 18-year-old man has been identified as the victim of a triple shooting on West 24th Street in Wilmington, heightening safety concerns for nearby residents. City officials say overall violent crime is down, but shootings and shooting victims have risen, and they're rolling out a citywide strategy through the new Office of Community Safety to address the trend.
4. Check out images from one of 302 Cash Copter's money drops (hockessincommunitynews.com) — A drone known as 302 Cash Copter recently flew along the Wilmington Riverfront, dropping anonymous envelopes of cash and notes to surprised recipients. A photo gallery shows the drone's setup, the money bundles, and the reactions of two people who happened to be in the right place at the right time.
5. A.I. duPont Charitable Trust, Nemours Foundation, and DOJ Launch Historic Agreement to Advance Childhood Health (delaware.gov) — A new $950 million Alfred I. duPont Charitable Fund for Delaware's Children, announced in Wilmington, will support children's health and well-being programs statewide over the next 11 years. The agreement, involving Nemours and state officials, guarantees hundreds of millions specifically for Delaware initiatives and long-term grantmaking aimed at improving care and outcomes for local kids.
