Attempted Bank Robbery Wednesday on K Street NW

At about 1:44 p.m., an unknown individual attempted to rob the Bank of America.

A man attempted to rob a DC bank on Wednesday afternoon, according to the FBI.

At about 1:44 p.m., an unknown individual attempted to rob the Bank of America, located at 1801 K St NW in Washington DC, according to authorities.

The man, who was described as a black male, presented a demand note, but left the bank without receiving any money.

The individual was described as a black male, 55 to 65 years old with some facial hair on the chin and a deep voice. He was last seen wearing a brown leather jacket, a gray hooded sweatshirt, tan baseball cap, black sunglasses on his baseball cap, blue jeans and black shoes.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the identification, arrest and conviction of this attempted bank robber.

The FBI/MPD Violent Crimes Task Force is investigating this attempted robbery and requests that anyone with information call the FBI at 202-278-2000 or MPD’s tip line at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the police department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.

Another attempt at a bank robbery took place Monday night in Centreville.

These two attempted robberies bring the total number of bank robberies (and attempts) committed in December 2014 to 16, one shy of December 2013’s stats (17).
