Metro Stabbing Suspect in Custody: Report
Washington Post reports that police are attempting to identify man they arrested Monday as suspect in fatal stabbing.

DC Police have arrested a man Monday they have tentatively identified as the suspect in a weekend fatal stabbing at a Red Line Metro station.
DC Police Chief Cathy Lanier tells the Washington Post Monday morning that “it looks like we have the suspect in custody.” Lanier tells the newspaper this morning that suspect Jasper Spires, 18, was arrested Monday in the 4800 block of Georgia Avenue NW, after DC patrol officers spotted him.
Spires is charged in a warrant with first-degree murder while armed.

The fatal stabbing occurred at the NoMa Gallaudet Metro station Saturday afternoon. Kevin Sutherland, 24 was identified as the victim. The station is located in the 200 block of Florida Avenue Northeast. The Post reported that the suspect was arrested Thursday on an unrelated charge for robbery and violence. He was released Friday.
Sutherland was a recent graduate of American University and a former congressional intern.
