13 More DC Residents Die Due To Coronavirus; 3,841 Positive Cases

The D.C. Department of Health reports 13 more people have died of the new coronavirus, bringing the total number of deaths to 178.

WASHINGTON, DC — The D.C. Health Department confirmed 13 new deaths Sunday due to COVID-19, the illness associated with the new coronavirus, bringing the total number of coronavirus deaths in the District to 178. D.C. Health also confirmed 142 new positive COVID-19 cases, bringing the overall total to 3,841.

The new deaths in the District are described as:

  • 55-year-old male
  • 66-year-old male
  • 70-year-old male
  • 70-year-old male
  • 73-year-old male
  • 82-year-old male
  • 82-year-old male
  • 82-year-old male
  • 84-year-old female
  • 86-year-old male
  • 88-year-old female
  • 89-year-old female
  • 97-year-old male

On Saturday morning, D.C. Health confirmed 171 new positive COVID-19 cases and 12 COVID-19 related deaths. The new deaths reported on Saturday are described as:

To date, 18,068 District residents have been tested for the new coronavirus and 657 people have recovered.

Chief Financial Officer Jeffrey S. Dewitt released his April 2020 Revised Revenue Estimate on Friday and his numbers reflected the impact the coronavirus pandemic has had on the District economy. D.C. elected officials will have to slash spending over the next five years to maintain a balanced budget, including possible cuts to some programs as well as reductions in staffing.

The District recently started reporting positive coronavirus cases and deaths by age, gender, race and ward.
