19 New Coronavirus Deaths In DC; Total Positive Cases Near 5,900
D.C. Health confirmed 19 new deaths due to the coronavirus, bringing the District's total number of deaths to 304.

WASHINGTON, DC — The D.C. Health Department confirmed 19 new deaths Friday due to COVID-19, the illness associated with the new coronavirus, bringing the total number of coronavirus deaths in the District to 304.
D.C. Health also confirmed 245 new positive COVID-19 cases, bringing the overall total to 5,899.

D.C. Health has confirmed that as of Thursday morning 25,856 District residents have been tested for the coronavirus and 808 have recovered. Contact tracing investigations are focused positive cases tied to health care workers and first responders, senior care facilities, correctional and detention centers, childcare facilities and facilities serving homeless individuals.

Globally, more than 3.8 million people have been infected by COVID-19, and over 264,000 people have died, Johns Hopkins University reported Monday morning. In the U.S., more than 1.2 million people have been infected and over 75,000 people have died from COVID-19.
