2 Fires At Same Northeast Address Under Investigation

D.C. Fire and EMS personnel were dispatched to the same two-story apartment building for similar fires within hours of each other.

WASHINGTON, DC -- D.C. Fire and EMS units were dispatched twice overnight to the same Northeast location to fires under similar circumstances, according to posts on the DCFEMS' official Twitter account. Both fires remain under investigation Wednesday morning.

Fire and rescue personnel responded Jan. 8, at 1:15 a.m. to the report of a fire in a two-story apartment building at 182 36th St., N.E.

Arriving on the scene, they find found fire in the first floor apartment, according to Vito Maggiolo, D.C. Fire and EMS public information officer. Firefighters were able to confine the blaze to the first floor apartment. No injuries were reported. Six people were displaced by the fire and the National Capital Region - American Red Cross was contacted to provide assistance if needed.

Fire and rescue units had responded to the report of a fire under similar circumstances at the same address on Tuesday evening, Jan. 7. The cause of both fires remain under investigation, according to Maggiolo.

Classified as a "working fire," the Wednesday morning dispatch brought approximately 12 units and 60 emergency personnel to the scene.
