2016 Election Results: Here's How DC Voted

D.C. voted for Hillary Clinton in huge numbers, sending her its three electoral votes.

WASHINGTON, DC — Donald Trump defeated Hillary Clinton in a shocking upset in the presidential election on Nov. 8. Clinton did easily win the District of Columbia, sending its three electoral votes as everyone expected. D.C. also voted to approved statehood.

With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Hillary Clinton won 260,223 votes in D.C. (90.5 percent), whereas Donald Trump won 11,553 votes (4 percent).

Gary Johnson won 4,501 votes (1.6 percent), and Jill Stein received 3,995 votes (1.4 percent).

There were a total of 6,003 write-in ballots cast in Arlington.

D.C. residents voted overwhelmingly to approve Advisory Referendum B, which is a recommendation of statehood for the District. The yes votes totaled 227,562 (79.2 percent) and the no votes totaled 37,558 (13.1 percent).
