Updated: 2nd Victim Identified In Double Traffic Fatality
D.C. Police arrested a suspect in connection with a double traffic fatality that involved a hit-in-run crash in Stronghold.
Update June 5, 9:45: The Metropolitan Police Department identified the second deceased victim in the Sunday night double traffic fatality involving a hit and run crash near Stronghold, according to a police release. The victim is identified as Mattie Young, 79, of Southeast.
WASHINGTON, DC — Metropolitan Police Department detectives arrested a suspect in connection with a double traffic fatality involving a hit and run crash that took place Sunday night near Stronghold, according to a police release.
Following a preliminary investigation by the Major Crash Investigations Unit, detectives determined that a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed around 6:25 p.m., struck another vehicle at the intersection of Bryant Street and North Capitol Street, N.E. The driver of the first vehicle fled the scene on foot. D.C. Fire and EMS transported the occupants of the second vehicle to a nearby hospital to be treated for live-threatening injuries. After all life-saving efforts failed, both the victims were pronounced dead.

Police have only identified one decedent at this time. His name is Donald Malloy, 81, of Temple Hills.
On Monday, MPD arrested Kyle Alexander Wooden, 32, of Southeast, charged him with second degree murder.
