Maryland Man Becomes Second Victim In Fatal Shooting In Northwest DC On Sunday

A Maryland man injured in the same shooting incident that killed Morris Mitchell of Northeast dies in the hospital from gunshot wounds.

WASHINGTON, DC —A Maryland man seriously injured in the same shooting incident that killed 36-year-old Morris Mitchell of Northeast on Sunday died in the hospital from gunshot wounds.

Antoine Jenkins, 22, of Capital Heights, Maryland was taken to the hospital Sunday morning to be treated for his injuries and later died.

Metropolitan Police Department found Jenkins Mitchell both suffering from gunshot wounds, after officers responded around 1:05 a.m., on Sunday to the 1100 block of 1st Place, Northwest for the report of a shooting.

Emergency medical personnel examined Mitchell and determined that he had died. His body was later taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

MPD is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 for anyone who supplies information that leads to the arrest and conviction of any person responsible for a homicide in the District.
