Northeast Man Fatally Wounded In Sunday Morning Shooting In The Sursum Corda Area

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department are looking for the person responsible for the fatal shooting of Morris Mitchell.

WASHINGTON, DC — D.C. homicide detectives are searching for the person responsible for the fatal shooting of 36-year-old Morris Mitchell of Northeast early Sunday morning in the Sursum Corda area.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department found Mitchell, suffering from gunshot wounds, after they had responded around 1:05 a.m. to the 1100 block of 1st Place, Northwest for the report of a shooting,

Emergency medical personnel examined Mitchell and determined that he had died. His body was later taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

MPD is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 for anyone who supplies information that leads to the arrest and conviction of any person responsible for a homicide in the District.

Anyone with information about Mitchell's death is asked to call MPD at 202-727-9099. Anonymous tips may be submitted via the department's text tip line by texting a message to 50411.
