3 DC Restaurants Named Among 20 Best Nationwide by USA Today Dining Experts

USA Today's 10Best is hosting a 2017 reader's poll to determine what the top restaurant in the nation is.

WASHINGTON, DC — USA Today is holding its 10Best Readers' Choice 2017 poll to determine which restaurant is the very best in the nation out of 20 nominees, and their experts put three D.C. restaurants on the list.

USA Today is inviting readers to vote for their favorite of the 20 restaurants between now and Jan. 2, when voting closes. Winners will be announced on Jan. 6.

Showing just how big of a culinary hotspot D.C. has become, District eateries Bad Saint, The Dabney and Pineapple and Pearls all made the short list. New York and Philadelphia were the only two other cities to get more than one on the list, and they both had two each.

Filipino restaurant Bad Saint has been turning heads in D.C. for the last few years, so it's no surprise to see them on the list.

"Filipino cuisine has taken DC by storm in the form of Bad Saint with Chef Tom Cunanan at the helm," USA Today writes. "The tiny no-reservations restaurant in Columbia Heights often has a line outside two hours before opening, but repeat clientele can attest to the quality of the always changing menu."

The Dabney received praise for its small plates and family-style dishes, while Pineapple and Pearls' 13-course tasting menu is named as one of the restaurant's highlights by the website.
