Federal Jury Convicts 3 In String Of Armed Robberies At DC-Area Businesses In 2018

A federal jury convicted three men on multiple charges relating to a string of armed robberies at DC-area businesses in January 2018.

WASHINGTON, DC — A federal jury found three people guilty of multiple charges Monday related to a string of armed robberies across the D.C. area in 2018, according to court documents.

The jury found 34-year-old Quaysa Flumo of Washington, D.C.; 29-year-old Enyianna Onyewu of Silver Spring, Maryland; and 27-year-old Emmanuel Sumo, of Takoma Park, Maryland guilty on federal conspiracy, robbery, and weapons charges, according to a release.

Prosecutors presented evidence that the three had worked together in January 2018 to rob gas stations, liquor stories, restaurants and convenience stores throughout the Washington, D.C. region, according to court documents.

The businesses the three defendants were convicted of robbing on Jan. 2 included a Silver Spring gas station and other targets in Tacoma Park, Silver Spring, Northeast Washington, and Arlington, Virginia. They were also convicted for two robberies on Jan. 10 and one on Jan. 29, 2018 at another Silver Spring gas station, according to court documents.

Onyewu is slated to be sentenced on July 22, Flumo on Aug. 12, and Sumo on Aug. 26 in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, according to authorities.
