4 More DC Firefighters Test Positive For Coronavirus
D.C. Fire and EMS Chief Gregory Dean confirmed four new cases of the coronavirus among his department's personnel.
WASHINGTON, DC — D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services confirmed Sunday that four more firefighters have tested positive for the new coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, according to a statement from Chief Gregory M. Dean. This brings the total number of D.C. Fire and EMS members to test positive for COVID-19 to 32.
The four new COVID-19 patients are self-quarantining and the Infection Control Group has already started notifying other members of the department who may have been in contact with them. The department is asking any members who may have come in contact with the infected personnel but have not heard from the ICG to contact them directly.
Dean directed firefighters to continue wearing personal protective equipment when responding to a medical call or patient contact to reduce the risk of spreading the virus.
