4-Year-Old Hit By Car Near DC Prep School: Report
According to reports, parents have been calling for a crosswalk and crossing guard outside the school out of concern for student safety.
WASHINGTON, DC — A 4-year-old was critically injured Tuesday night after being hit by a car near Rocketship Legacy Prep School in DC's Anacostia neighborhood. According to reports, the child was hit at approximately 7:30 p.m. and was taken to a hospital in a personal vehicle before being flown to another hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
While the circumstances surrounding the accident are unclear, ABC7 reported the driver remained at the scene of the accident and it was not a hit and run.
Prior to the accident, Rocketship parents called for a crosswalk and crossing guard outside of the school due to the facility's location on Massachusetts Avenue SE. Currently, there is no crosswalk or crossing guard to help students cross Massachusetts Avenue, ABC7 reports.

One officer helping today told me, “They need a cross walk here!” Well before this incident near the school parents have been petitioning for one. We reported on that last week: https://t.co/jovOdqpagp @ABC7GMW #GMW https://t.co/4howGAi43Q
