American University Lockdown Ends: Police
Police were investigating reports of an "armed intruder" on campus.

UPDATE 4:43 p.m.: American University Police announced that all buildings have been cleared and the lockdown has ended.
UPDATE 4:00 p.m.: The WCL/Tenley Campus building has been cleared. The Main/East Campus is still on lockdown.
UPDATE 3:37 p.m.: Police have cleared the building at 4200 Wisconsin Ave. NW. The Main/East/Tenley Campus is still on lockdown.

UPDATE 3:23 p.m.: Police have just cleared the Spring Valley Building at 4801 Massachusetts Avenue NW, but all other buildings remain on lockdown.

WASHINGTON, DC -- American University Police have locked down the campus after reports of an armed intruder Wednesday afternoon.
University police tweeted at 1:26 p.m. that a lockdown was in place and that people in the area should "lock doors & stay away from windows-If outside, leave campus immediately."
At 2:48 p.m., police tweeted that the lockdown at 4401 Connecticut Avenue NW had ended, but all other buildings remained on lockdown.
"Building searches are progressing," police tweeted at 3:15 p.m. "Lockdown remains in place. Continue to shelter. More information forthcoming."
Secret Service and the Metropolitan Police Department are also involved in the investigation.
