WASHINGTON, DC — The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating two daytime armed robberies in Northeast D.C. earlier this week, where the suspects demanded money from people at ATM at gunpoint. D.C. police said they believe the armed robberies are related.
The police did not say whether they believe the robberies are related to the series of armed robberies where a group of three or four suspects, including a 14-year-old who was arrested on Tuesday, kidnapped people, assaulted them, took them to ATMs and then demanded them to withdraw money.
On Sunday, at about 10 a.m., suspects approached a victim at an ATM, in the 1000 block of H Street Northeast. One of the suspects brandished a handgun and demanded money from the victim. The victim complied, and then the suspects fled the scene, according to police.
