Small Fire Reported At Capitol Visitor Center In DC

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, which started Friday afternoon.

WASHINGTON, DC — A fire prompted reported evacuations at the Capitol Visitor Center in Washington, D.C. on Friday.

Around 3:50 p.m., DC Fire and EMS said crews responded to the Capitol for a small fire involving a space heater. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, officials said.

Several reports on social media said civilians were evacuated from the area during the incident.
