Arrest Made in Deanwood Metro Stabbing: Police

18-year-old Javonte Hall is accused of stabbing a 15-year-old boy to death Monday.

Police have made an arrest in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 15-year-old boy at the Deanwood Metro station.

Police have charged 18-year-old Javonte Hall with killing 15-year-old John Rufus Evans III, which happened on the morning of April 11 as Evans was exiting a Metro train, according to a Metropolitan Police Department statement.

"At approximately 11:04 am, Members of the Sixth District responded to a call for an aggravated assault," the statement reads. "Upon arrival, they located a juvenile male suffering from an apparent stab wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. All lifesaving efforts proved futile, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced."

Police immediately identified a person of interest who was captured on surveillance cameras, as we reported.

Members of the Homicide Branch arrested Hall in Northeast shortly before 8 p.m. April 11. He has been charged with second degree murder while armed.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser called it a "senseless act of violence." Police said the two had a long-running dispute, and the meeting that led to the stabbing was a chance encounter, according to a WTOP report.
