Arrest Made In Sunday Morning Fatal Shooting Of Northeast Man
Metropolitan Police Department detectives made an arrest in an early Sunday morning shooting of a Northeast D.C. man.

WASHINGTON, DC -- Metropolitan Police Department homicide detectives arrested a Southwest man in connection to the Sunday morning fatal shooting of Xavier Tate, 26, of Northeast, D.C., according to a police release.
Officers from the First District responded Jan. 5, at about 5:47 a.m., to the report of a shooting. Arriving on the scene, they found Tate inside a residence in the 1400 Block of 3rd Street, Southwest, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and EMS transported Tate to a nearby hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries. All efforts to save Tate failed and he was pronounced dead.
Homicide detectives began their investigation and determined the shooting took place inside the 3rd Street, Southwest residence. On Thursday, Jan. 9, detectives arrested Bratrell Hawkins, 27, of Southwest, D.C., pursuit to a D.C. Superior Court warrant, charging him with Second Degree Murder while Armed.
