Assault With Knife Charge Against Oxon Hill Man: Police Report

Metropolitan Police Department detectives charged an Oxon Hill man in connection with an assault with a dangerous weapon incident.

WASHINGTON, DC — Metropolitan Police Department detectives from the Third District arrested an Oxon Hill man in connection with an assault with a dangerous weapon (knife) offense that took place Monday morning in the Lanier Heights area, according to a police report.

On Monday, Feb. 24, around 10:29 a.m., the victim and suspect were involved in a verbal argument in the 1700 block of Columbia Road, N.W., when the suspect threatened to stab the victim with a knife, according to police. Officers responding to the scene took the suspect into custody.

Police arrested John Cornwell, 59, of Oxon Hill, Maryland, and charged him with assault with a dangerous weapon (knife).
