Bicyclist Killed After Being Hit By Car Identified: DC Police
Metropolitan Police Department released the identity of the bicyclist killed after being struck by a vehicle Thursday night in Northeast.
WASHINGTON, DC — Metropolitan Police Department's Major Crash Investigations Unit identified the bicyclist who was struck and killed Thursday night as he was riding his bike on 63rd Street, Northeast, near the D.C./Maryland border, according to a police report. MPD identified the man as Michael Williams, 43, of no fixed address.
A preliminary investigation determined Williams was riding his bicycle around 10:07 p.m., southbound in the 200 block of 63rd St., N.E., when he crossed over from the right side of the roadway toward the center of the road and in front of a vehicle that was slowing due to a traffic signal. He then crossed over the double yellow lines into the northbound lane, where he was struck by an oncoming GMC Denali.
