Annual Gala to Return to the Marriott Marquis on June 8 with More Than 30 Top Restaurants of the Region and Live Auction with Goal to Raise $1 Million
WASHINGTON (April XX, 2026) — Food &amp; Friends will host the 33rd Annual Chef's Best Dinner &amp; Auction on Monday, June 8, 2026, at the Marriott Marquis Washington, D.C.&nbsp;
The event brings together more than 30 of the Washington region's top chefs for an evening of tastings, signature cocktails, and a live auction to support the organization's mission to nourish people with chronic illnesses at no cost.
This year's Chef Chair — Executive Chef Partner of Pisco y Nazca, Chef Mauricio Chirinos — brings his culinary journey from Lima, Peru, to the DMV region to reflect the same values of care, community and craftsmanship that define Food &amp; Friends' work.
Proceeds from Chef's Best will directly support Food &amp; Friends' mission of preparing and delivering free, medically tailored meals, groceries and nutrition counseling to nearly 6,000 individuals living with serious or chronic illness across the Washington, D.C., region, including their caretakers. Annually, Food &amp; Friends delivers 2 million meals, with more than 67% of households served living on $1,800 or less per month.&nbsp;

Blues Alley Club

Noli Korean Jazz Ensemble, based out of the Washington, D.C. area, plays a unique fusion of jazz and traditional Korean folk music. Performing original compositions, the group combines Korean samulnori rhythms with jazz melodic and harmonic sensibilities for a sound that is both innovative and authentic to the traditions it draws from. While many groups pair jazz with East Asian instruments, what sets Nori apart is how they use the rhythmic cycles that form the basis of traditional Korean music to inform their harmonies and improvisational systems. In the group’s performances, you will feel the drums carry you with their earthy textures to the madong – the field where traditionally communities come together in drumming and dance to celebrate the harvest. Noli is comprised of some of the most sought-after performers in the DC area from both jazz and Korean traditions. The Music Center at Strathmore

Cécile McLorin Salvant is a composer, singer, and visual artist known for her rich contralto voice, passion for storytelling, and genre-blending style, connecting jazz to baroque, folkloric music, vaudeville, and the blues. Described by the late Jessye Norman as “a unique voice supported by an intelligence and full-fledged musicality,” Salvant is an eclectic curator, unearthing rarely recorded, forgotten songs.

Her 2023 album, Mélusine, which features songs in French, Occitan, English, and Haitian Kreyol, received two Grammy nominations. Savant’s newest album, Oh Snap, is set to release in September 2025.

A leading voice of the harp, Brandee Younger made history at the 2022 Grammy Awards as the first Black female solo artist nominated in the Best Instrumental Composition category for her song “Beautiful Is Black.” Younger has performed and recorded across countless genres with artists including John Legend, The Roots, Lauryn Hill, Common, Pharoah Sanders, Ravi Coltrane, Ron Carter, and Charlie Haden. Additionally, her original composition “Hortense” was featured in the Netflix Concert-Documentary, Beyoncé: Homecoming.
