Join PostClassical Ensemble - Washington, DC’s premiere chamber orchestra - and step in 1920s Berlin, a hotbed of artistic innovation inspired by a newfound spirit of openness and radically inclusive politics marked by such groundbreaking works as Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht's The Threepenny Opera. Celebrate the sounds and sights of this fascinating period before it was cut short by an oppressive crackdown on expression. Curated by Drew Lichtenberg, this concert includes rarely-performed cabaret songs, arrangements of Weill songs that became jazz standards, a Shostakovich film score played to picture, and more. PostClassical Ensemble is conducted by Angel Gil-Ordóñez; featuring soprano Melissa Wimbish.
