What voices have shaped America and whose voices have been overlooked?
Join acclaimed historian Dr. Drew Gilpin Faust for an evening exploring the place of women’s voices in American History from the Declaration of Independence through to modern times.
From the early decades of the new nation to contemporary debates about representation and power, Dr. Faust will share new research on the evolving role of women’s voices in the American experience. Who speaks and who is allowed to speak? What assumptions have governed women’s voices in the public sphere across American history? More than a century after women gained the right to vote, how do these ideas continue to shape our social and political landscape today?
