Kick off the holiday weekend with the ultimate happy hour and game night combo! Join Planet Word on the first Wednesday of July for a special America 250 edition of our signature after-hours event. All three floors of the museum will stay open late, including our interactive “Unlock the Music” karaoke gallery and the laugh-out-loud “Joking Around” humor gallery. Bring your friends, grab a drink, and test your knowledge with themed games and crafts. Explore the museum and check out our A250 exhibit takeover in the Lend Me Your Ears gallery where you can deliver a historic American speech yourself. Special activities include: * 1776 Slang Match: See how your modern vocabulary stacks up against terms from the American Revolution. * Declaration of Independence Black-Out Poetry: Redact and reimagine excerpts from the Declaration of Independence to create your own poetic masterpiece. * “What Does the 4th of July Mean to You?”: Contribute to our collaborative whiteboard flag * Short Story Dispenser: Print a poem about America to take home. This evening is part of Planet Word’s Language & Liberty: 250 Years of America series. Pay what you can: $5–$25. Your ticket allows us to continue offering more great programs like Wordplay Wednesday to a wider audience.
