Capitol Police Clear Officer Who Shot Ashli Babbitt On Jan. 6
A memo from the Capitol Police stated that "no further action will be taken" against the officer who shot and killed the 35-year-old woman.

WASHINGTON, DC — The U.S. Capitol Police Department has formally exonerated the officer who fatally shot 35-year-old Ashli Babbitt when she stormed the Capitol with hundreds of other Trump supporters on Jan. 6.
The officer, whose name has not been released, was cleared following an internal investigation, according to an NBC News report.
A memo from the department also stated that “no further action will be taken in this matter” following the use of force investigation.

In April, the U.S. Department of Justice decided it would not pursue criminal charges against the officer.
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia, with the Metropolitan Police Department's Internal Affairs Division, investigated Babbitt's shooting. Officials determined there was insufficient evidence to support a criminal prosecution.
