Woodley Park and other District neighborhoods saw heavy debris and more than 300 downed trees, while officials urge everyone to avoid downed lines and report hazards as cleanup continues.

3. Judge criticizes Trump pressure on prosecutors on reflecting pool vandalism charges (bigcountrynewsconnection.com) — A D.C. Superior Court judge signaled he may block new felony charges against Olympian David Hearn, accused of damaging the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, while questioning President Trump's public pressure on local prosecutors. The case, centered on one of Washington's most iconic landmarks, has become entangled with broader debates over political influence and proposed changes to the capital's historic landscape.
   

4. Local doctor asks people to get screened following Dolly Parton's death (wusa9.com) — Residents in Washington and the wider DMV are being urged by a local oncology expert to schedule cancer screenings in light of Dolly Parton's recent death and September's many cancer awareness campaigns. He highlights promising advances like new pancreatic cancer drugs and experimental vaccines, but stresses that early detection through regular screenings remains the most powerful tool for people in and around the District.
