Carjacking With Child Inside Reported In DC: Report

The child was found unharmed not long after the incident.

WASHINGTON, DC -- A 5-year-old is safe after the car the child was riding in was carjacked in Southeast D.C. Friday morning, according to a report.

NBC 4 reports that the woman had dropped another child off at Watkins Elementary School at around 8:30 a.m. when she saw a man stealing something from another car.

She confronted the man, who jumped into her car instead and drove off while her child was in the backseat, according to the report.

A witness heard her yelling "get out of my car" at the man.

The car was found abandoned with the child inside a few blocks away.
