Here's what you can expect to be open in our area on Monday and what is likely to be closed.

WASHINGTON, DC -- It's Columbus Day on Monday, and that means one thing: beware if you've got errands planned that day in D.C.
On holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, or even Labor Day you can be certain pretty much everything is going to be closed. But Columbus Day is a bit of a borderline holiday -- technically it's a federal holiday, but many employers don't treat it as one.
So what's open and what's closed in D.C. on Monday, Oct. 8, 2018? We have a breakdown below.

Schools: Closed
County Offices: Closed

Libraries: Closed
Federal government: Closed
Parking: Not enforced.
Sanitation services: Suspended, will resume Tuesday. Trash and recycling collections in once-a-week collection neighborhoods will "slide" to the next day.
Metro: Trains will operate at Saturday service intervals. Metrobus will operate on a Saturday supplemental schedule.
